[Users] symbolizer for feature highlight

I've read through a bunch of docs and API stuff, and can't figure out 
what seems to be obviously do-able.

I have a set of vectors (coming from geojson file) diplayed on a map, 
and in a FeatureStore, and linked via a GridPanel. Worked great, just 
like the example in the API.

Then I decided to symbolize the data using Rules and a StyleMap. That 
looks cool, and it gets me a nice VectorLegend, but I lose my HighLight 
from the FeatureSelectionModel.

Is there a simple way to get my polygons to highlight again, while still 
using the vector symbolizer? I'd hate to draw them a second time, that 
seems rude to the browser :-)

It's slow, cuz I haven't optimized it yet, though I'm only using a small 
subset for the data for testing.
