Hi !
GeoExt is a pure client library. On the server side, you can use whatever
framework/software you want. Typically, to store information in a database,
you can use the WFS-T protocoll of OpenLayers and use WFS-T servers like
GeoServer. You can also use MapFish server which exposes REST
(Create-Update-Delete) services. A typical example is
http://www.openaddresses.org/ . You can see all the source code here:
