Good point, but see below why it is like this.

What we have under http://api.geoext.org/x.y/ is an unzipped release bundle, with the subfolders script/, lib/, examples/, resources/, and docs/. So it is not just the api, but the whole release. Also, in the release bundle, the "website" (docs/examples.html) uses a relative path to access the examples (../examples). So this is all consistent.

If this still feels wrong, I am not opposed to a different structure, but I don't have time to make any further changes myself.
