[Users] Metadata from SLD or GetCapabilites possible?

Hi,


Has anyone been able to dynamically create a list of layers in an ext.window 
consisting of the contents of a mapPanel?

I am wondering how I could automatically create a metadata list for a project 
without having to write the html by hand.

Is it possible to somehow use the GeCapabilities document or the SLD to produce 
map information about the layers?
