Hi Rob,

I'm in the same situation. I have a project which must combine a webgis
(using geoext) and a mobile application (which will use sencha touch and
openlayers).

I don't have any tutorials because i didn't started yet with mobile
development but i already have some comments:
- i think you should deploy the app directly to the mobile device
- the use of caching is advisable to guarantee that you always have at least
one base layer that is not depending on internet connection
- to do this in the android platform you will need :
     Eclipse 3.6 or later
     Android SDK [1]
     ADT plugin for eclipse [2]
MSD appLaud plugin for eclipse (this will install phonegap) [3]

With this solution you can emulate several android versions directly on the
computer. Phonegap is also allowing to deploy apps into propietary mobile
operating systems but you will need to find their libraries for app
development. I have tested this "framework" and it works perfectly with
sench kitchen example though i haven't tested it with openlayers yet.

This is not the answer that you were looking for but maybe it can help
starting with it.
