Hello PSC members,
Till Adams and I had the idea to organize a "Geoext 3" codesprint - in
tradition to the last "Geoext 2 codesprint" in April 2011. At such a
sprint the developers could create a solid base for OpenLayers 3 support
by hacking and discussing face to face.
Since version 2.1.0 of GeoExt has been released as a first alpha the
time seems right to start developing on getting GeoExt ready to work
with ol3. In my opinion this is the next big and necessary step. When
talking to GeoExt users and app-devs always the same question comes up:
"When will ol3 be supported in GeoExt?".
As in 2011 Till already offered the room(s) at the terrestris office in
Bonn [1] as codesprint venue. A possible time frame would be the second
half of June. Till suggested 17th - 20th of June.
Possible next steps could be:
- Creating a wiki page to collect all necessary informations
- Publish an official "call for sponsors"
- Structure the organization
What do you think about this?
Cheers,
Chris
