Yes, GeoExt is a (client-side) framework to create mapping apps, and I
don't think there's desire to change that. We probably shouldn't talk
about "tools"; "components" would be more appropriate I guess.

I think Yves is just saying that he'd like that GeoExt provide
high(er)-level components that would ease developing apps with editing
functionality.

As a side note: our goal with the user extensions (ux) is to provide
high-level UI components targetting more specific user scenarios.
These ux may be why the term "tool" came up; just a guess.

I agree. There are a couple of things we'd want to do before Release
1.0 though, like bringing some consistency in our APIs, and being able
to publish per-release docs.
