No. I had to abandon this strategy due to another bug. If you show a map 
that doesnt have google layers and then change to a map that does (and 
use geoext treepanel), then the google layer is incorrectly sized and 
placed. I am looked for workaround since so far I havent been able to 
penetrate what is going on in openlayers when this happens but I want to 
get the webpage up.
